I-95 northbound in East Lyme closed after tractor-trailer involved in crash catches on fire

EAST LYME, Conn. (WFSB) - Emergency crews are responding to a tractor-trailer that caught on fire after a crash on Saturday morning.

At around 6:49 a.m. troopers were deployed to the area of Exit 72 for a two-car motor vehicle collision involving a tractor trailer unit, state police said.

The collision then caused the tractor-trailer to catch on fire.

Officials said minor injuries are reported.

First responders from the East Lyme Fire Department, DOT, and DEEP are also assisting on scene.

The northbound side of the highway is closed at this time.

The public is asked to avoid the area.

No further details were released.
