One person dead after crash between car and tractor in Greene County

Authorities in Greene County say one person is dead after a crash between a car and tractor on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Greene County Sheriff's Office, a car rear-ended a tractor on Highway 25 north of Bayard.

Deputies say the tractor driver was flown to the hospital, and later died.

The car was totaled, but its driver was not hurt.

Iowa State Patrol is investigating.

According to the latest data from the Iowa Department of Transportation, 123 people have died so far this year on Iowa roads. That number is eight fewer than at the same point in 2024. Over the last five years, an average of 353 people have been killed in statewide crashes annually.
