Driver of BayCare Box Truck Dies in Fiery Wreck on the Polk Parkway - IONTB

February 19, 2025 – A fatal crash occurred early Wednesday morning on State Road 570 (Polk Parkway), resulting in the death of the driver of a Baycare box truck.

According to authorities, the crash happened at approximately 2:12 a.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, near the 11.5-mile marker. A single-unit box truck traveling eastbound failed to slow down and collided with the rear of a tractor-trailer, catching fire.

The driver of the BayCare box truck sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have not yet identified the deceased.

The tractor-trailer driver, a 51-year-old man from Tampa, was uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation.
